Our Ethos & Expectations

The stables are enjoyed by lots of people, and so to help everyone co-exist, know where they stand, and get what they need during their time here, we’ve produced a list of expectations. Including what you can expect from us. We’ve wrapped this together with our ethos.

By joining our community you’re agreeing to meet these expectations, and support others in following them too. If there’s anything we’ve missed, or needs to change, we welcome feedback and review.

New customers are invited to apply through our vacancies page, and we have a waiting list that can be joined at any time. We occasionally host a yard open day where interested parties are welcome to visit and look around the yard, paddocks and local hacking.

  • We care about our land, buildings and facilities. So that you can focus on caring for your horse.

We expect everyone to visit their horse daily and check that they have everything they need to live a happy and healthy life here.

  • We couldn’t do this if it wasn’t for the generations that have cared for this land before us. Now, we want to leave it better for the future generations. We do this by sustainable land management practices, working with our neighbouring farmers, and the choices we make everyday, from the supplies we purchase to the equipment we use. You can help us by doing the same, plus ensuring you dispose of all your waste on-site responsibly.

  • Kenton Mill Farm is home to a family, we have four girls here. They’ll occasionally be around - if you don’t see them, you’ll likely hear them playing in the river, garden or fields.

We promote a safe yard, but we also want it to be a place where the next generation can learn to love and look after horses. You are welcome to bring your children, friends or family when you come to see your horse.

We’re also adding beautiful maintained walks through the fields and picnic areas to come this summer. Please use them anytime.

  • We want Kenton Mill Farm to be a space for social engagement, not just for the horses, but their owners too. We encourage you to get to know one another, and for those who would like can join the group WhatsApp chat. We hope by getting to know one another it’s easier to support one another when necessary.
